Dr. Shabnam Sood, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 30 years of experience dedicated to providing compassionate and culturally sensitive mental health care. She holds dual academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at both the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and Creighton University School of Medicine – Phoenix, where she is actively involved in the education and mentorship of medical students and residents.
Dr. Sood earned her Doctor of Medicine (MBBS) from the prestigious Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, India. She completed her psychiatry residency at Maricopa Integrated Health System (now Valleywise Health) in Phoenix, Arizona, where she served as Chief Resident in 2007. Her early medical training included internship rotations in India, giving her a strong foundation in global medicine. She brings this broad perspective to her current clinical practice, which includes inpatient and emergency psychiatric services at Valleywise Health Medical Center in Phoenix and Desert Vista Behavioral Health Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, Dr. Sood is committed to serving Arizona’s diverse population and breaking down language and cultural barriers in mental health care.
