The APA Membership Committee is asking your help in promoting
Fellow status by soliciting your eligible members directly, posting Fellow
information in your newsletters and on your websites and making announcements
about Fellow status at your local meetings. Fellow status, established in 2003
and directed primarily toward younger members of the Association who might not
yet meet the standards for Distinguished Fellow status, requires the
following:
路 General Membership for at least five consecutive
years
路 Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the
American Osteopathic Association
路 Three letters of recommendation from current Fellows,
Distinguished Fellows, Life Fellows or Distinguished Life Fellows
路 A 30-day review period for the district branch to offer
comments about the Fellowship candidate
路 Approval by the APA Membership Committee
路 Approval by the APA Board of Trustees
Attached is a roster of members, in your district branch, who are
eligible to apply for Fellow status in 2007, a copy of the application form and
processing guidelines, and a sample letter of invitation that you may wish to
use.
Thank you in advance for helping to promote this very special
program. With your assistance last year, nearly 200 members applied and were
approved for Fellow status; the APA is counting on you to help make the
Fellowship program an even bigger success in 2007!
